Hello people! I'm new here, I've got a bit of a propblem I've tried to add characthers from default mugen to this and noticed they diden't appear in the game is it cause this game has a new engine, and only works with characthers you remake for this engine or?
EDIT: Appears the stages/chars I download from here doesnt work I got the HR one from the homepage and got behemoth and zan along with some other chars but they don't show up in the select screen. What am I doing wrong I add them to chars folder and add the line to select.def but I dont see them.

Hi NormalInsanity,

You can add every character in BrokenMUGEN HD.

If you want to display them real pixel size, like the chars we include you have to change the scale in the "nameofthechar.cns" :

For an HR char :

Quote :

xscale = .25 ;instead of 0.5
yscale = .25 ;instead of 0.5
proj.doscale = 1 ;Set to 1 to scale projectiles too

For an LR char :

Quote :
[Size]
xscale = .5 ;instead of 1
yscale = .5 ;instead of 1
proj.doscale = 1 ;Set to 1 to scale projectiles too

For the portraits you can edit the char with fighter factory and replace normals portraits by HD ones :

Little portrait (group 9000, image 0) are 98*58 pixels in BrokenMugen HD
Big portraits (group 9000, image 1) are 240*280 pixels in BrokenMUGEN HD

Some projectiles and catch distances could have to be modified too, it depends of the chars...

Thanks, I also noticed brokenselect.def so I'm now capable of adding chars. Custom pictures sounds cool hope it's like photoshop, otherwise I'll have to get used to it.

Brokenselect.def is the roster file in BrokenMUGEN HR engine.

BrokenMUGEN HD engine use a normal select.def file, because lot of people didn't found the brokenselect.def

Oh, that explains it. I also noticed that there's just 1 battle in arcade mode how do you put it to several battles cause I'd like atleast 10. And does the HR and HD look the same cause I thought the HD looked a little different.

You can see the 2 types of characters (HR2 & HD) we develop for BrokenMUGEN HD here :

First, we create a full game with HR2 chars, there is very few HD sprites for the moment.

Usually, BrokenMUGEN HD is configured for 10 battles in arcade mode.
Check that in the end of the select.def file in the data directory you have this :

It is 10 battles using the orders of our chars.

Of course we can.

The main concept, for LR sprites like your, is just to multiply the size of the sprite by 2 both axe, using filtering to avoid pixellisation and to display the result real pixel size (scale=0.25)

We're creating a tutorial to explain how do it in batch (you won't resize sprite 1 by 1...). Ar you using existing character (because in this case, you have to double coordinates too...) or are you creating the chars ?

You can test our HR2_vega... originally it was an LR sprite like your.

Your Ermac looks like that in HR2 :



Filtering quality can probably be improved, particulary for the legs...

But the concept is to have your sprites resized 200% both axes with good filtering because Mugen doesn't support anymore filtering since doubleres=4. And we're in doubleres=8...

So you have filtered sprites and you display them real size. Result is better than Mugen interpollation without filtering which create pixellisation.

Ok, I'm going to ask this because it's annoying me. Can I add characters from let's say winmugen to broken mugen? I know how to add them to the select list and such. Just want to know if it can be done?
